Music Education and Training
Janette has a BMus (Hons) from Sheffield University and is a qualified teacher with a PGCE from Goldsmiths'. She has extensive experience of working in music education in all phases, and is an experienced choral workshop leader with children, young people and adults. Janette has written many songs for use in schools, music for a pantomime, a full-length musical and several cantatas.

Her career as a choral conductor spans twenty years. Janette has an MA in Choral Education from Roehampton University, an LRSM in Choral Direction and has successfully completed training in the Estill Voice Training System Levels one and two.

Janette has extensive experience of leading singing workshops in schools, both CPD for teachers and with young people. When she was a practitioner council member of the abcd, she developed two Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes for them.    The first of these, Leading from the Front (2007-8) involved teachers and over 2000 children in Essex schools in a series of workshops and mentoring sessions designed to help teachers to become more confident about leading singing in their schools.  Janette led a session about the project at the 2008  abcd Annual Convention in Lincoln and wrote an article that was featured in the Sing Up magazine (September 2008).

In addition to leading her own freelance singing workshops for adult singers,  by invitation Janette has led workshops with adult choirs.

Janette is a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
